At the International Trade Institute, we’re proud to support professionals who are shaping the future of international trade. In this Global Trade Ambassador Spotlight, we’re delighted to introduce Paola Paterlini, Export Sales Administration Manager at Emak SpA, a global leader in forestry and gardening equipment.
Emak SpA is an Italian-based company with 4 production units, operations in 8 countries, and a presence in 115 markets worldwide. With such a broad international footprint, compliance with global trade rules is critical.
Over the past decade, Paola’s role has evolved from operational activities to supervising export sales administration. Today, she ensures accuracy across export and intra-EU sales documentation from invoices and declarations to certificates of origin and suppliers’ statements.
What Makes Trade Compliance Challenging (and Rewarding)
For Paola, international trade compliance is anything but routine. She highlights some of the key challenges she manages every day:
💡Navigating non-preferential origin rules
💡Understanding tariff barriers vs. free trade agreements
💡Meeting market-specific labelling and certification requirements
💡Securing customs authorisations and managing restrictions/prohibitions
At the same time, the global trade landscape is constantly evolving:
💡New products and services require an export perspective from day one
💡Aftersales support increasingly involves remote services and cybersecurity
💡New free trade agreements open market opportunities, while tariff barriers continue to create hurdles
Why Paola Chose ITI’s Diploma in International Trade Compliance
“ITI’s Diploma in International Trade Compliance offers a unique double perspective on EU and non-EU regulations, which are of peculiar interest for a company operating worldwide.”
Paola explains that the programme helped her strengthen her knowledge of non-EU regulations, a critical skillset for a company with Emak’s global reach.
She also appreciated the flexible learning format: “A fast-paced programme that can be customized with a self-paced option covering all the main issues of international trade. The chance of interacting with experienced trainers from other companies and the high-level panel of lecturers is also a valuable plus.”
Looking Ahead
With her expanded expertise, Paola is well positioned to continue guiding Emak’s exports smoothly across borders; balancing compliance demands with the opportunities of a rapidly changing global trade environment.
At ITI, we’re proud to have supported Paola on her journey, and we look forward to seeing how she continues to make an impact in her career and the industry.
Bravissima Paola - you are an inspiration to us and we wish you all every success for the future.
