Dr. Damian Raess is Full Professor at the Graduate School of International Studies, Laval University (Canada). He earned his PhD in social sciences from the University of Amsterdam. His research focuses on public and private approaches to protect labor standards through trade. He is the co-creator of the Labor Provisions in Trade Agreements (LABPTA) dataset. He is the co-editor of International Trade, Investment, and the Sustainable Development Goals (Cambridge University Press, 2020) and of China and the WTO: A Twenty-Year Assessment (Cambridge University Press, 2023). He has consulted for national governments and international organizations including the World Bank, the European Free Trade Association, the EU Parliament, the UK Parliament and the US International Trade Commission on the topic of the design and effectiveness of labor provisions in preferential trade agreements.
